“Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.”- Psalms 50:15
In Bangladesh, 176 women die from pregnancy and childbirth-related causes each year for every 100,000 babies born. Thanks to God, Ratna and her newborn did not join that statistic.
Ratna is the young wife of Tipu, a pastor and convert from Islam. In a country that is 90% Muslim, converting to Christ can be a dangerous thing to do. But God has proved faithful and His quick answer to many prayers for Ratna and her newborn is a testimony that will speak loudly to others in their community.
Last week, CFI asked for urgent prayer for Ratna and her newborn. Tipu and Ratna had prayed since their marriage for a baby. After giving birth, both mother and baby suffered multiple complications. Doctors declined to discharge them from the hospital, warning that both could die before reaching home.
But Tipu had no money after selling everything for the mounting hospital bills. Then he faced a choice: Ratna told him to take her home. She urged him to do everything to save their baby, and she would be happy to die from lack of medical care if their baby would live.
“What can I do except praying to Lord Christ, sir!” Tipu told CFI’s co-worker.
CFI supporters also prayed. And gave. Within days, Ratna and baby were gradually improving. By the end of the week, they left the hospital and would be treated by consultants while living at home. And regularly checked by doctors.
“Thank you much for your concern and important prayers,” CFI’s co-worker wrote, “without that it couldn’t be possible for them to survive. The Healing Power of our Lord Christ always confirms His deity.”
Tipu was “so delighted and encouraged” that he wrote this thank you to CFI’s supporters:
In Bangladesh, parents name their child a few weeks after the baby is born. Tipu asked CFI to suggest names for his baby boy.
We are grateful for the many people who prayed and gave generously for Tipu and Ratna and others who need urgent support.
