“Tentmaking” is an exciting area for missions because it opens opportunities to reach the Persecuted Church in new ways.
We are excited to share with you one of our most important ministries.
We use the Apostle Paul as our example. He and his co-laborers, Priscilla and Aquila, made tents while pursuing their main goal of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Acts 18:1-5).
The New Testament reports that Paul worked in Galatia, Corinth, Thessalonica, and Ephesus (1 Th. 2:9; 2 Th. 3:7-8; Acts 20:31-35; 1 Cor. 4:12; 9:6). He used his skill of making tents to carry him into some very difficult mission fields and into dangerous areas for Christians.
His trade not only provided him with a source of income, it gave him regular day-to-day contact with merchants and travelers. This contact furnished him the opportunity to minister, and it also furnished him legitimacy because he was providing a needed skill in the community.
Today Christian Freedom International trains many persecuted Christians to be “Tentmakers.” While we are not making tents (yet), we train persecuted believers to make marketable products so that they can support themselves, their families, and their ministries.
In our website catalog you will find beautifully designed t-shirts which are personally made by Christian refugees from Pakistan. In turn, these t-shirts are silk screened by persecuted Christians from Burma.
The shirts and the silk screening are of the highest quality — all made by Christians persecuted for their faith.
Your purchase of any of these products provides a direct income to both the maker of the t-shirt and to the silk screener.
It is a way of helping through “self-help.”
• “Tentmaking” is an exciting area for missions because it provides entry into some of the most restricted countries in the world, places “foreign missionaries” are not allowed to go.
• “Tentmaking” is needed because it opens up opportunities to serve the Persecuted Church in new ways.
• It conserves mission funds for ministries, to help provide full support in good stewardship, or in times of economic insecurity.
• It multiplies our personnel. Once an indigenous “Tentmaker” is trained, he or she can take this skill to other unreached areas and help others.
Please support a persecuted Christian “Tentmaker.” Please look through our online catalog with your family, your church, and even at the office.
Thank you for your support of the Persecuted Church through CFI. Thank you for supporting a “Tentmaker.”
Please know that we can do custom & special orders. Just send us your design to [email protected] and we will make and print t-shirts for your church, organization, or special events. This is a practical way to help a persecuted brother or sister in Christ.
